Electric toothbrush reviews
One brush per page: what it does well, what it costs to run for three years, and who should buy something else.
Aquasonic Black Series reviewEight heads, a wireless charger, a travel case and the ADA Seal for about $40, with the lowest three-year cost of any brush we price. It has no pressure sensor, so it suits people who already brush gently.
Bitvae D2 reviewEight heads, a battery rated for 60 days and the ADA Seal for about $25. It’s the cheapest electric toothbrush we’d suggest to an adult, as long as you don’t scrub and you’re relaxed about where future heads come from.
Laifen Wave Pro reviewThe hair-dryer brand’s toothbrush sweeps through a 60-degree arc while it vibrates, and Laifen rates the battery at up to 70 days. It’s the most interesting brush of 2026, from about $100, with a question mark over long-term support.
Oral-B iO Kids reviewA pressure sensor that slows the brush, three gentle settings, a music timer and a 28-day battery in a kid-friendly handle. At about $45 it’s the kids' brush we’d hand to a school-age child who scrubs.
Oral-B iO Series 2 reviewOral-B’s entry iO is built for people switching from a manual brush: one button, a Super Sensitive starting setting, and a sensor that slows the brush and signals red when you press too hard. About $60, and gentler than the iO3.
Oral-B iO Series 3 reviewThe cheapest brush with Oral-B’s full iO motor and its best pressure warning. It’s our top pick overall, with one cost you need to plan for.
Oral-B iO Series 5 reviewThe iO5 adds five modes, app tracking and a travel case to the iO motor for about $120. It cleans like the iO3; the question is whether you’ll use the app for longer than a month.
Oral-B iO Series 9 reviewA colour screen, 3D tracking, seven modes, four heads and a case that charges the brush. It cleans no better than the iO3, and it doesn’t need to: you buy it for the feedback. The Amazon US listing had no main offer on October 30, so check the seller.
Oral-B Pro 1000 reviewSixteen years after it went on sale, the plain white Oral-B is still the electric toothbrush most dentists would hand you: about $50, a pressure sensor and the cheapest heads in Oral-B’s range. It’s loud, and it has no case.
Philips Sonicare 4100 reviewThe cheapest full-size Sonicare with a pressure sensor, about $50, and still one of the most recommended brushes anywhere. Buy the July 2026 version (HX4031) if you can: it adds three intensity levels.
Philips Sonicare 5300 reviewAn older Sonicare that quietly became one of the best-value boxes in the range: three modes, a pressure sensor, a travel case and three heads for about $75. Over three years it costs about the same as a $50 4100.
Philips Sonicare 5900 reviewPhilips' 2026 drivetrain, three intensity levels, a Gum Health mode and up to 21 days per charge for about $90. It’s the best Sonicare for most people this year; budget for pricier C3 heads or switch to C2.
Philips Sonicare 7300 reviewThe Sonicare with Philips' 2026 motor, a light-ring pressure warning, the app and a charging travel case, about $140 with three A3 heads in the box. It’s the Sonicare to buy if you travel.
Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige reviewSenseIQ turns the power down when you press too hard and coaches you through the app. It’s the nicest original-design Sonicare there is, about $380, and the most expensive one to own. A Next-Gen version with a display now sells at the same price.
Philips Sonicare for Kids reviewA gentle sonic brush with a free app that turns two minutes into a game, about $35. For kids who fight bedtime brushing, the app is the whole point; for kids who don’t, the cheaper Design a Pet edition is enough.
SURI Pro review, and whether the new SURI Core is the smarter buySURI’s aluminium sonic brush now has a pressure sensor and an optional UV case, and a cheaper bio-based Core arrived in August 2026. Below: which one to buy, and who should skip both.
Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 reviewA sonic toothbrush with a water flosser built into the head, about $180. It’s bulky and needs a countertop base, and it’s exactly right for one kind of person: the one who never flosses.
