The best electric toothbrush and water flosser combos

If you skip string floss, get the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion 2.0 (about $180): one handle brushes and water-flosses. If you have counter space and want each job done more thoroughly, the Waterpik Sensonic Complete Care (about $200) pairs a full flosser base with a separate sonic brush.

Most people know they should floss and most people don’t. A water flosser fires a thin pulsing stream between teeth and along the gumline, and for many people it’s easier to keep doing than string floss, especially around braces, bridges and implants. A combo puts the brush and the flosser on one base, which saves counter space and one more charger.

Brushing and flossing from the same handle: the water jet comes through the middle of the brush head. About $180 on October 30, against a $199.99 list price. One button switches between brush, floss, or both at once. It has two brush speeds, ten flosser pressure settings, a 16 oz reservoir, a two-minute timer with 30-second pacer, two heads and a brush travel case. Waterpik gives it a three-year warranty. Genuine full-size heads were about $12.50 each in a two-pack.

The catch is technique: brushing and flossing at once is messy until you learn to keep your lips nearly closed over the head.

  • Amazon price, Oct 30, 2026about $200

A full-size water flosser with ten settings and five tips, plus a separate sonic toothbrush that charges on the same base. About $200. The brush has three modes (Clean, Stain Removal, Gum Care), a timer and a battery rated at four weeks. The whole kit carries the ADA Seal and a two-year warranty.

Because the flosser is a normal Waterpik with its own tips, it’s the better choice for braces, implants or periodontal pockets, where you want a specialised tip and full control.

Who should buy a combo

  • Braces or aligners: a water flosser clears food from brackets far faster than threading floss. See our braces guide.
  • Bleeding gums: water flossing is a good way to clean along the gumline daily. If bleeding lasts more than a couple of weeks, see a dentist.
  • Implants, bridges and crowns: easier to clean around than with string.
  • People who simply won’t floss: the best floss is the one you’ll use.

Already happy with your brush?

You don’t need a combo. Keep your Oral-B or Sonicare and add a standalone water flosser. If you searched for an “Oral-B water flosser”, that’s the practical route: any countertop flosser works alongside any brush.

Sonic-Fusion or Sensonic Complete Care?

Choose the Sonic-Fusion if you want everything done in two minutes and have healthy gums. Choose the Sensonic Complete Care if you have braces, implants or gum pockets and want proper flossing tips.

What about an Oral-B water flosser?

Oral-B sells water flossers as separate devices, but it doesn’t make a brush that floss-sprays through the head the way Waterpik’s Sonic-Fusion does. If you already own an Oral-B you like, keep it and add any well-reviewed countertop or cordless flosser; you don’t need a combo to get the benefit.

Water flossing technique

Start on the lowest pressure. Lean over the sink, put the tip in your mouth before switching on, and close your lips enough to stop splashing while letting the water run out. Aim the stream at the gumline at a slight angle and pause for a second between each pair of teeth. Do the back teeth first, while the tank is full. A little bleeding in the first week is normal; bleeding that lasts beyond two weeks is a reason to see a dentist.

Counter space and travel

Both Waterpik combos need a base with a water tank, so they stay at home. The Sonic-Fusion’s handle comes with a travel case and works as a normal brush on trips. If your bathroom is small, measure first: a countertop flosser base takes about the space of a large mug, plus room to lift the tank.

Already happy with your brush?

You don’t need to replace a good toothbrush to start water flossing. A separate flosser does the same job, and cordless models fit small bathrooms and travel bags. The combo’s only real advantage is having one device, and for some people that’s the difference between flossing and not.

Water flosser or string floss?

Both clean between teeth. String floss is cheaper and portable; water flossers are easier for people with braces, bridges, implants or stiff fingers, and many people simply stick with them better. The best one is the one you’ll use every day.

I have crowns, veneers or implants. Is a powered brush safe?

Yes, with a soft or sensitive head on a gentle setting. What damages dental work is an abrasive whitening head worked hard along the margin, not the motor.

What we checkedWhitening heads carry a polishing cup and stiffer bristles. Sensitive and gum care heads in the same packs do not.

Picks that suit dental work

Oral-B or Sonicare? They feel nothing alike.

They are two different jobs. Oral-B polishes one tooth at a time with a small spinning head. Sonicare vibrates a normal-shaped head and cleans more by sweep than by scrub. Pick the one you will still be using in March.

What we checkedTrials give the oscillating style a small edge on plaque. Owner reviews give Sonicare the edge on comfort and noise. Both beat a manual brush.

Things readers check with us

For many people it reduces gum bleeding at least as well, and it’s easier to keep using. Your dentist can tell you if you need both.
Can you brush and floss at the same time with the Sonic-Fusion?

Yes. It has brush, floss and brush-and-floss modes.

Does Oral-B make a toothbrush and water flosser combo?

We haven’t found an Oral-B combo sold by Amazon US. Pairing any Oral-B brush with a standalone flosser does the same job.

Is the Sonic-Fusion’s flosser as strong as a countertop Waterpik?

It has ten pressure settings and about 60 seconds of flossing per tank. The Sensonic Complete Care’s full flosser base gives you a larger tank and longer sessions.

Can I use a water flosser with braces?

Yes, and it’s one of the easiest ways to clean around brackets and under wires. Start on low pressure.
