Which to buy

SURI is the better buy for most people. The Quip Rev suits fans of oscillating heads who want something slimmer than an Oral-B.

Both brands started as alternatives to bulky plastic brushes, and older comparisons treated them as near twins. They aren’t any more. Quip’s Rev uses a small round head that oscillates, which is the Oral-B style of cleaning. SURI stayed sonic.

The line-ups on Amazon US, October 2026

SURI Pro (about $135 with the UV-C cleaning case, about $105 without): aluminium body, pressure sensor, over four weeks of battery, USB-C. SURI Core (about $75, new in August 2026): bio-based body, pressure sensor, up to four weeks, wireless pebble charger, travel cap.

Quip Rev (about $70 in an Amazon pack with a travel case, mirror mount and a spare head): three intensities, a pressure sensor with an LED and pulses, up to 30 days per charge on a magnetic cable. Quip Rev Smart (about $100, new in January 2026): four intensities, app tracking, a stand, a case and two spare heads.

The difference that decides it: heads

Genuine SURI heads sold as a three-pack for $18.99, about $6.33 each, and they fit both SURI models. For the Quip Rev, Amazon only had single heads from resellers at around $18 to $20, which is why the Quip bars below are starred. Quip sells refills on its own site, so if you choose Quip, buy heads there.

What each one costs to own for three years, counting the handle once and twelve genuine heads after it. Prices from Oct 30, 2026. Buy heads in bigger packs and the striped part gets shorter. A ballpark, not a quote.

Handle Replacement heads

* Partly estimated: the handle had no main Amazon offer, the exact head wasn’t on sale, or only a reseller listed heads.

Brushing style

This is the decision people miss. SURI brushes are sonic: a regular-shaped head that vibrates. The Quip Rev is oscillating-rotating, like an Oral-B, with a small round head that turns back and forth. If you’ve used and liked an Oral-B, the Rev will feel familiar; if spinning heads feel harsh to you, go with SURI.

Charging and cases

The SURI Pro charges by USB-C and SURI rates it at over four weeks per charge. The $135 pack adds a UV-C travel case that cleans the head in about a minute and charges the brush when plugged in; a $105 pack leaves the case out. SURI’s cheaper Core ($75) charges on a wireless pebble and comes with a travel cap. The Quip Rev charges with a magnetic cable and Quip rates it at up to 30 days; the Amazon pack adds a case, a mirror mount and a spare head.

Pressure warnings

The SURI Pro and SURI Core both have a pressure sensor. The Quip Rev uses an LED light and pulses to warn you. The Rev Smart’s Amazon listing doesn’t mention a pressure sensor, so we wouldn’t count on one.

Heads and three-year cost

SURI’s plant-based heads were about $6.33 each on Amazon US. The Quip Rev heads we found were from a reseller, at about $18.46 each, so treat that figure as an estimate. With those numbers, three years come to roughly $205 for the SURI Pro and $255 for the Quip Rev. Quip’s own refill plan may be cheaper; check before you commit.

The Rev Smart

The Quip Rev Smart (about $100) adds four intensities, from extra gentle to deep clean, app tracking, a stand, a travel case and a mirror mount, and it ships with three heads. It’s a good brush, but the app is the only reason to choose it over the plain Rev.

Which should I buy?

If you like the Oral-B style round head but want something nicer looking, the Quip Rev. If you prefer the gentler sonic feel, or want the cheapest heads, SURI, and the Core is the value pick. Want an app? Only the Quip Rev Smart has one.

How long before the battery dies, and can it be replaced?

Three to five years is the normal range, and on almost every sealed handle the battery is the end of the brush. Nobody sells you a replacement cell, so treat the warranty length as a hint about how much the brand expects it to last.

What we checkedWarranties on the handles here are two years at Oral-B and Philips. Laifen quotes up to 70 days per charge, which means far fewer charge cycles over the same years.

How long each one lasts

Will an electric brush push my gums back?

Not on its own. Recession comes from force and from sawing sideways, and a powered head removes the sawing. Buy a handle that tells you when you are pressing, then rest it on the tooth and let it work.

What we checkedEvery brush on this page over $50 warns you about pressure. The Pro 1000 stops pulsing; the iO3 turns its neck ring red; Sonicare handles buzz in your hand.

The questions that come up

The Quip Rev and Rev Smart use an oscillating-rotating round head. Older Quip brushes were sonic, which is why some comparisons are out of date.
Do SURI and Quip have pressure sensors?

The SURI Pro, SURI Core and Quip Rev list one. The Rev Smart listing doesn’t mention it.

Which has the longer battery?

They’re close: SURI quotes about four weeks or more, Quip up to 30 days.

Is SURI or Quip better for sensitive teeth?

SURI, for most people: sonic brushing feels gentler, and both SURI models have a pressure sensor. Their bristles are medium-soft, though, so very sensitive mouths may prefer a Sonicare with a soft head.

Can you recycle SURI and Quip heads?

SURI runs a mail-back recycling scheme for its plant-based heads. Quip’s Amazon listings don’t describe one.
